FIT will setup this access in your home or office for you.  Many people do not know that having access to the Internet works both ways.  Once your system or network has access the Internet, it is possible for people to have access to your system.  This can be beneficial or harmful.  It is important to have a method of security in place such as a firewall or router to keep unwanted visitors out.

Options available

You may choose from a number of different access methods.  Cable modem, DSL, Frame Relay, ISDN, T1, T2, and T3  The method you will use depends on the amount of bandwidth you will need.  3 to 4 computers on a DSL, or cable modem setup will work fairly well.  If you have an office with more than that you will want to go with a method that can handle more simultaneous connections.  The amount of bandwidth you use will depend on what you are doing.  If you have 8 computers, but only 4 of them need access to the Internet at the same time, you can use DSL or Cable.
